Mission Statement
We will do everything we can to ensure that the children of this school, as they develop intellectually, emotionally and physically, will also grow socially and spiritually so gaining a real respect for themselves, for each other and for the whole world.

Ysgol Y Bedol aims to improve opportunities for everyone to engage in a variety of activities which engender and promote a love of life long learning for its pupils, families and the wider community.

Through effective consultation Ysgol Y Bedol will actively seek out ways to secure effective partnerships to respond to the needs of pupils, their families and the community we serve.

The service offered by Ysgol Y Bedol will hopefully prove to be the catalyst of change stimulating and supporting culture adjustments within the local community.

As the Cwmaman community has recently benefited from numerous grant/investment schemes, it is an opportune time to focus and develop the role of our school in the community. This opportunity will engage the school in partnerships across a wide range of services. Some of these services will be based within the school or closely provided within the Cwmaman area. The aim is to work closely together with service providers to impact health and social issues at a more local level. This provision will enhance the role of the school and have a direct impact on the lives of our families and their children.

Ysgol Y Bedol aims to provide facilities, information and opportunities not currently available. Provision for childcare will play an important role within the development enabling families to have access to quality childcare provision as well as opportunities for themselves.

Ysgol Y Bedol, alongside the Community Centre at Glanaman, will play a pivotal role in supporting training and employment opportunities for the local community providing recreational courses, parenting opportunities and accredited courses. This will obviously rely on partnerships with local colleges within the area.

The activities of the ‘extended’ school, however, will not detract from the core business of raising the achievement of our pupils. The ‘extended’ learning opportunities for all will nurture the thirst for learning and success and seek to raise the self esteem and aspirations of our community as a whole. ‘Extended’ learning opportunities will enhance the school curriculum and support personalised learning for all.

To ensure that everyone feels comfortable and secure within this environment, the school will focus on the way it promotes opportunities to the local community, for many people have had very mixed past experiences of schooling and education. Engagement with the community will be essential and the school will need to look carefully at the ways in which we promote activities, to whom they are offered and how re-engagement will prove to be a positive and rewarding experience for all.

This is an exciting tine for Ysgol Y Bedol. Roles and responsibilities are being constantly reviewed and new partnerships created
